Start with a five-question analysis (5 checks). Rerun a question for 1 check. Currently powered by OpenAI with web search; results are sampled answers, not measured rankings.

Crawler Policies by Provider
These 18 crawler policies cover search, training and user-requested fetches. They do not represent answer monitoring across these platforms.
Separate OpenAI agents for training, user-requested fetches, search indexing and submitted ad pages.
Perplexity's crawlers for its AI search index and user-triggered page fetches.
Anthropic's crawlers for training, Claude's search index, and user-triggered fetches.
Google's opt-out token for Gemini training and grounding. Does not affect AI Overviews, which use Googlebot's normal index.
An open web archive used in some model-training datasets. Inclusion does not establish AI citations.
Crawlers from Meta, Amazon, Mistral, ByteDance, Diffbot, and Apple AI.
More Than Just robots.txt
Every scan returns per-crawler access for all 18 bots, a rendering comparison, and a GEO score — a 0–100 rubric for on-page structure, not a prediction of AI mentions or citations.
robots.txt Analysis
Per-crawler breakdown of every allow and disallow rule. See exactly which user agents are blocked and at which paths.
Visual Crawler Preview
Compare a regular browser with Chromium using a Googlebot-like user agent. Both run on BotView’s network. Inspect the screenshots alongside the HTML analysis.
JavaScript Rendering Gap
Compare initial HTML with rendered content to identify text that depends on JavaScript. A matching screenshot alone can hide that dependency.
Actionable Fixes
Every issue comes with a specific recommendation. Not just “fix your robots.txt” — the exact rule to add or remove.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does an AI visibility checker actually check?
The free evaluation checks robots.txt policies for 18 AI crawlers, page content and browser rendering. Screenshots compare a regular browser with a Googlebot-like browser on BotView’s network. They do not show visits from each AI provider’s real infrastructure.
Does the free check show whether ChatGPT mentions my business?
No. The free check evaluates crawler access and page content. Paid AI Answer Check uses selected OpenAI API questions with web search to record mentions, citations and original answers. Neither is a measurement of consumer ChatGPT rankings. A business can also be mentioned through third-party sources without a direct citation to its own site.
How does BotView compare with ongoing AI visibility monitoring?
BotView combines crawler diagnostics with manual OpenAI answer reviews. Pro includes 20 individual question-runs per month for $9; Agency includes 100 for $39. It does not provide automatic answer monitoring or multi-engine share of voice. Compare engine coverage, frequency and allowances before choosing a tool.
Does the checker give me a GEO score?
Yes. BotView’s GEO score is a rubric for on-page structure: answer extractability, Q&A structure, headings, structured data, entity density, citations and freshness. It describes these signals in the scanned page. It is not a probability of being cited, and a high score does not guarantee an AI recommendation.
Can I check multiple pages or just my homepage?
Free scans cover up to 3 selected pages per scan. Pro supports up to 50 pages and Agency up to 100, with optional sitemap crawling on paid plans. Free includes no AI answer checks; crawler scans and paid question-runs have separate allowances.
What if some AI crawlers are blocked but others are not?
Read the role alongside the result. Blocking a training crawler is a policy choice; a search crawler restriction may affect retrieval in that provider’s search service. A failed diagnostic request can also reflect how your firewall treats BotView’s network. Verify the matching rule and provider logs before changing access.
Is there a difference between training and search crawlers?
Yes. GPTBot and ClaudeBot are training crawlers; OAI-SearchBot, Claude-SearchBot and PerplexityBot serve search. User-fetch agents open pages on request and have their own documented policies. Allowing training does not establish search visibility, and changing robots.txt does not guarantee a mention.
